Can you explain how alternative heating and cooling sources work, this is when neither a boiler or chiller plants are present. You mentioned that refrigerant or electric elements are used but how does that work? And is it also used in the AHU?

I have a question about the positioning of the Belimo or other 3 way actuators being used. The units that I handle all have these actuators installed on the return piping, what I am trying to understand is in the case where the units are being called to cool a space, there is still heated water flowing through the coil while the unit is trying to cool the air supplied into the space. Shouldn't the heating coil be isolated to allow the cooling process to be faster or is this some secret efficiency method that I am not understanding?

So we often have certain spaces in our building fed by FCUs. I n some cases very cold air will enter the space via the diffuser and for some reason we cannot determine why this air is entering cold. Set point adjustments seem not to work in raising the SA into the space.

So why use FCUs why not VAVs?

This units are a pain to work on sometimes not becuase its complicated, but becuase theres limited space to work on them.
